- Contextual sources: Archives, databases and previous coverage used to explain background.
- User-generated material: Used cautiously and verified before being treated as factual.
Verification of Social-Media Claims
Before citing a social-media post, we check whether the account is authentic, whether the post is current, whether the content has been edited and whether the surrounding context changes its meaning.
A viral clip may omit earlier or later footage. Where context is uncertain, the article should say so and avoid a definitive conclusion.
Voting and Elimination Claims
Official reality-show results are verified through the programme episode, broadcaster, streaming platform or an authorised announcement. Fan polls and social-media trends are not treated as official vote counts.
